People Initiative of the Year Water Industry Achievement Awards 2008 |
|
Finding and holding onto good staff is essential to any successful industry, and the water industry is not alone in experiencing the huge problems created by the skills shortage. This award seeks out examples of successful, innovative recruitment, training and staff retention initiatives that all parts of the industry can learn from.
The award recognises the important role that people play in the water industry. “It is especially pleasing to win the People Award as people can make a real difference to an organisation’s performance. This training was designed to ensure people have the right skills for their role” said Peter Abell.
The training programme sought to · make people more effective in their role · improve risk management understanding and application · earn accredited CPD points that can be used towards a degree or higher professional qualification · create a sustainable programme · Up skill people with decision making skills, risk tools and techniques · drive capital and operating cost efficiencies · create a culture where risk management is a natural act · use one common risk management language · enhancing the partnering arrangement with asset management partners · support a high level strategic objective of “a high and consistent level of risk application”
